I love this picture!

I tend to be like the girl in the front seat.   You can call me Shaniqua from now on.  Really, I'm laughing out loud right now because I soooooo get this girl.

Second row - that's kind of like Dennis.  Smiling - laughing - talking through the biggest dip on the ride - maybe even trying to decide where we'll eat lunch when the ride is over.

Back rows - "THIS IS THE BEST RIDE EVERRRRRRR!"  (That was Dennis in younger years.  His dream vacation for us was to hit the top 7 roller coaster rides in America.  Ya…..not happening!  Fortunately, sun and sand and scuba diving won over the dream roller coaster vacation!)

Evidently life is a roller coaster.  The ups and downs and corkscrews - hoping to shake loose anything that is loose - all a part of the ride.   

Today… and the last couple of days …. okay - the last couple of years ….. I have had a deep need and desire for peace.  I don't pray for the roller coaster to stop anymore.  I pray for peace on the roller coaster.  Not church-words peace - real passes any understanding, shouldn't have it, can't make this peace up, kind of peace.  Today (at the dentist) I was telling God, "You are my sole source for peace right now."  (Yep, I'm Shaniqua at the dentist as well as on the roller coaster ride.)

Peace because He stands in the past, the present and the future {all at the same time - so great} and holds on tight to me - and to you.  

And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, 
WILL GUARD your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Jeanette, your beauty and joy of heart are so priceless. Your "peace on the roller coaster" reminded me of a plaque I once saw "Peace - not undisturbed circumstances but undisturbed believing."
Thanks for sharing your life with such honesty, heart and sweetness.

Sunday, as I was leading worship there was a definite time when I felt we were waiting for something.  What are we waiting for, Lord?  It's interesting to be the leader when your leading a time of....waiting.  Waiting is not a comfortable time for most people.  (I'm grateful for a church family that is willing to wait in the Presence of God.)  Most of us like quick service, done in a way that pleases us the most. Thoughts and conversations that I've had this week... ~Supposedly my ears and my nose will continue to grow until I die. Not that happy about the thought. ~When the woman who colors my hair warns me that the color will be 'richer' this time, it means that it's going to be darker enough that people will comment on my new hair color. ~When did the holes in my earlobes stretch????? Looks like I've been prepping for a plug look. Really? My earlobes are stretching out and going south? Really? ~I tried to medically advocate for my elderly mom this week in a very challenging environment - to the point that I started crying. I dislike my gift of tears. The whole experience made me sad. It's hard to see your parents decline and not be able to fix things for them. ~I missed our grandson's 3rd birthday party today because of our schedule - couldn't fit in 6 hours of driving today. I am thankful that I have a thoughtful, generous, caring husband who has not traded me in - even with all the weird stuff he's had to go through with me. In the middle of feeling pretty yucky this weekend, he managed to help me celebrate my birthday with such a sense of caring. I am thankful for a friend who would call from Turkey to say happy birthday and say out loud his family's love on my behalf. (Even though he reminded me that it would cost hundreds of dollars and I only had 45 seconds to talk to him!!!) My heart felt - hugged. I am thankful for the look on a person's face who has really heard from heaven! The joy, the awe, the pureness in the eyes of one who is so excited about what God is doing. Oh my stars... I am thankful for the sound of the song of the Lord coming from His kids. Hearing the church family sing praise is my favorite instrument. I love having kids, but I really love having grandkids.
