"I WILL NEVER LEAVE YOU..........."

I so like this picture.  I had bribed the youngest and the oldest with a peach smoothie from Dutch Bros.!  So much has happened since this picture was taken...

I'm going to write this blog tonight....not knowing what tomorrow will bring.  Tonight it seems my dad is closer to heaven than to life here on earth.  I love knowing that heaven is close.  I extremely dislike seeing  suffering.

I read from the Psalms to my dad today.  I hummed and sang, and I think he was trying to plug his ear - I'm not sure.  Ha!  Not the response I'd  hoped for!

I have never lived out "we live by faith, not by sight" (2 Cor. 5:7) more than I am during the moments of these days.

That's  a lot of "I's"!!!   (Have you ever counted the times you say "I" in a day????)

Now another kind of "I"...

"For I AM the LORD, your God, who takes hold of your right hand and says to you - Do not fear; I will help you."  (Is. 41:13)

"Peace I leave with you, my peace I give to you.  I do not give to you as the world gives.  Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid."  (John 14:27)

"I have set the LORD always before me.  Because He is at my right hand I will not be shaken."
 (Ps. 16:8)

LORD, please help me shift my focus from the pain to Your promise.

I am thankful that I have a thoughtful, generous, caring husband who has not traded me in - even with all the weird stuff he's had to go through with me. In the middle of feeling pretty yucky this weekend, he managed to help me celebrate my birthday with such a sense of caring. I am thankful for a friend who would call from Turkey to say happy birthday and say out loud his family's love on my behalf. (Even though he reminded me that it would cost hundreds of dollars and I only had 45 seconds to talk to him!!!) My heart felt - hugged. I love this picture! I tend to be like the girl in the front seat.   You can call me Shaniqua from now on.  Really, I'm laughing out loud right now because I soooooo get this girl. Second row - that's kind of like Dennis.  Smiling - laughing - talking through the biggest dip on the ride - maybe even trying to decide where we'll eat lunch when the ride is over. Back rows - "THIS IS THE BEST RIDE EVERRRRRRR!"  (That was Dennis in younger years.  His dream vacation for us was to hit the top 7 roller coaster rides in America.  Ya…..not happening!  Fortunately, sun and sand and scuba diving won over the dream roller coaster vacation!) Evidently life is a roller coaster.  The ups and downs and corkscrews - hoping to shake loose anything that is loose - all a part of the ride.    Today… and the last couple of days …. okay - the last couple of years ….. Overwhelmed by love

Four weeks ago today our little grandson Oscar became very sick. Our daughter-in-law and also her mom kept us posted as they waited for the ambulance, as the ambulance arrived and then as they did what they needed to do in the hospital. Dennis and I waited, oh, I'd say 15 minutes from the first call to hop into our car and head up to Salem - not to fix anything - just to be with them. On the way up there my heart hurt so badly for Oscar - literal pain. I thought I had a huge mom heart for our sons - boy, this grandma heart could kill a person! We would move heaven and earth for that little guy if we could. As I was praying for him I asked the Lord to show me His heart for His kids. Confession - sometimes I struggle to KNOW the love of God for myself. That He would move heaven and earth for me, if it was best. Do you ever struggle with this?
